Dr. Eugene Y.A. Charles is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He received his BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science from the University of Jaffna in 1999, and went on to pursue a PhD in Systems Engineering from the School of Engineering at Cardiff University, UK, which he completed in 2007. Dr. Charles' research interests lie in the areas of machine learning and natural language processing. He has authored a number of research articles on various fields related to computer science, with a particular focus on these two domains. In addition to his research work, Dr. Charles is also an accomplished educator and mentor. He has supervised several graduate research students, many of whom have gone on to make significant contributions to the field. He has served as the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Head of the Department of Computer Unit, and presently serving as the Director for the Operational Technical Secretariat which is managing the Word Bank funded AHEAD project. In addition, Dr. Charles is serving as one of the administrators for the ICT services at the University of Jaffna.
